CLARA CASIAN

I am using new media, specifically video manipulation, in a context based social critique. The project explores common traits within the gestural language using 3d technology and video editing. By exposing a collection of significant gestures, the recorded evidence is manipulated depending on the similarities or differences.

The subject is about trying to determine whether gestures are voluntary or involuntary, affected by social constraints, or can be understood on their own. The elements of the subject are national, physical and circumstantial differences from which I am trying to decipher the coded language of gestures.

This is a short film containing the results from my initial study. I have used the same hand model in a attempt to standardise multiple gestures from different locations as a means to better understand physical communication.
